Is Financial Planning Just for the Rich?
(Transcript)
Hi, I’m Jim Marrocco from Thinking Big Financial.
Recently, a friend asked me if I worked with regular people. By this she meant, do I work with people that are not super wealthy? And it reminded me of this huge myth that exists: that a financial advisor is only for the rich or is just about investing.
You want to move toward your version of financial freedom, but its only available to those that have a lot in the bank. This idea couldn’t be further from the truth.
There are many reasons why this misperception exists, but the most likely is that the largest businesses spend the most on advertising and happen to cater to the wealthier side of the market. So they are the most visible to people. But there is a huge group of advisors out there that are set up to help people in all sorts of situations.
At its core, financial planning – a financial advisor’s work is about helping people get to a new place of financial freedom. It doesn’t matter if the starting point is zero in the bank, lots of debt or simply a young professional who is earning a lot of money and saving some each month.
Ultimately for all people, financial planning maps out where you want to go from wherever you start. It is not just about investing money. So spread the world and let me know of I can be of any help.
