Building Financial Resilience for trans folks

Financial Planning for Trans Folks

The trans community is under fire more than ever. On top of the recent slew of anti-trans legislation, trans people have higher rates of job, housing, healthcare, and credit discrimination. The economic implications of being trans in the U.S. make the path to a secure and prosperous financial future much more difficult than for others. Trans people have a harder time building wealth and financial security, which means it’s more difficult to be financially resilient and live your fullest life.

We at Thinking Big want to do our part to help the most disadvantaged members of our LGBTQ+ community and believe that helping trans people build financial resilience is the most organic and effective way we can do that. Our new program, “Building Financial Resilience for Trans Folks,” will create a financial foundation that will help trans folks protect themselves financially and build off what they have, and provide the tools they need for a strong financial future.

The Building Resilience program will be a series of five 60-minute meetings that occur monthly. During the sessions, you will meet with the Thinking Big team (Jim and Brandon) to break down your money scripts, build a plan for your financial future, and problem-solve for your individual financial situation. All five meetings will be structured time and will also allow for folks to ask whatever questions come up during the process.

Three spots will be available at the nominal fee of $50 per session ($250 total). The program will begin in July 2024.

Financial Planning Program Details:

Session 1: Discovery work: Bridging the gap between your values and money histories and what you’re doing with your money.
